Myobrace® in Surrey

Straighter teeth without braces

Concerned about how your child’s smile is developing? MyoKids Dental in Weybridge offers Myobrace, an incredible pre-orthodontic treatment designed to correct habits that cause crooked teeth, narrow arches and bite problems.

Myobrace for kids and teens

You don’t have to wait until your child is older for braces. Address the underlying causes of orthodontic problems while your child’s smile is still developing with the Myobrace, which corrects crooked teeth, overbites & underbites with a removable intraoral appliance.

Why choose MyoKids for Myobraces?

MyoKids Dental in Weybridge has a whole floor dedicated to children’s dentistry and orthodontics that’s designed to help children feel more relaxed and comfortable from the moment they arrive.

Parents choose MyoKids for Myobrace because, instead of waiting to straighten teeth later, we address what may be causing the issue now. By combining early orthodontic care with a child-friendly environment, we recommend treatments that support your child’s dental development.

Myobrace for different ages

At MyoKids Dental, our paediatric dentists use Myobrace to establish correct oro-facial myofunction and guide proper jaw development and orthodontic alignment in children.

Myobrace for children aged 5-15

At this stage, treatment helps guide jaw development and create more space for adult teeth as they emerge, preventing overcrowding.

Myobrace for teens

Some teens may benefit from Myobrace before or alongside braces or clear aligners to help correct oral habits, alignment, and bite development.

Guide to Myobrace treatment

Everything parents need to know and should expect from Myobrace treatment:

  • Recommended for children aged 5-15
  • Corrects habits that contribute to crooked teeth
  • Used for mouth breathing and poor tongue posture
  • Corrects incorrect swallowing patterns
  • Helps with thumb-sucking habits
  • Straightens narrow arches and early crowding
  • Gentle and non-invasive
  • Worn for a few hours daily

Myobrace treatment combines a removable appliance with habit correction and myofunctional therapy exercises.

  1. The appliance guides the teeth and jaws (worn for a few hours daily or overnight).
  2. The exercises retain muscles around the mouth, tongue, lips, and cheeks.

This combination matters because poor oral habits put pressure on the teeth and jaws every day, which can contribute to orthodontic problems later on. Your child will need to wear the appliance consistently and complete the exercises our team recommends.

Myobrace is typically suitable for children with early signs of orthodontic or jaw development concerns and can help correct issues like:

  • Crooked teeth and early crowding
  • Narrow arches or protruding front teeth
  • Mouth breathing or poor tongue posture
  • Incorrect swallowing patterns
  • Thumb sucking or dummy habits
  • Bite development problems
  • Jaw growth concerns
  • Poor lip seal or facial development support

Your child may benefit from an early orthodontic assessment if they:

  • Breathe through their mouth
  • Sleep with their mouth open
  • Snore or have disturbed sleep
  • Have crowded baby or adult teeth
  • Have teeth coming through in the wrong position
  • Developing an overbite, underbite, or crossbite
  • Rest their tongue low in the mouth
  • Swallow incorrectly
  • Have lips apart at rest

Myobrace is not a quick cosmetic treatment. It is a growth and habit correction programme. Many Myobrace cases take around 18-24 months.

Does your child need a Myobrace?

The Myobrace is a removable, pre-orthodontic appliance for children that they wear briefly during the day or overnight.

Unlike fixed braces, the Myobrace doesn’t just move teeth; it focuses on correcting poor oral habits that can contribute to misalignment, narrow jaws, and bite problems later.

By improving habits early, while your child’s smile is still developing, Myobrace can support healthier jaw development and create more space for adult teeth to emerge naturally and align properly.

Myobrace can help children learn to:

  1. Breathe through the nose instead of the mouth
  2. Rest the tongue in the correct position
  3. Swallow correctly

Dr Marshall can assess whether monitoring, Myobrace, functional appliances, or another orthodontic option is the next best step.

Myobrace® corrects crooked teeth, overbites & underbites

The process

The four stages of Myobrace treatment

During a pre-orthodontic consultation, we’ll assess your child’s teeth, jaw growth, bite, breathing habits, tongue posture, swallowing pattern, and oral muscles to create a plan that helps guide early, correct orthodontic development.

01

Stage 1: Habit correction

Helping your child learn how to breathe through their nose, keep their lips together at rest, rest their tongue in the correct position, and swallow correctly to help address the root cause behind many early orthodontic problems.

02

Stage 2: Arch development

Supports jaw growth and creates more space for the teeth and tongue for adult teeth to emerge correctly. Some children may need additional appliances alongside Myobrace for more support.

03

Stage 3: Dental alignment

As adult teeth come through, the Myobrace guides them into better positions while reinforcing the breathing, tongue, and swallowing habits learned earlier in treatment. Perfect alignment can be achieved later with fixed braces or clear aligners, resulting in a shorter treatment phase.

04

Stage 4: Retention

Maintain results by reinforcing correct habits and supporting long-term stability by helping your child continue to breathe, swallow, and rest their tongue correctly. No retainers typically required.

My young son had struggled with other dentists and we had experienced numerous failed attempts to have required treatment completed elsewhere due to his anxieties. Our experience with MyoDental has been incredible. The care taken from all the staff to understand our circumstances, welcome him, make him feel at ease, build trust, etc. has been beyond our hopes and expectations. Michael's ability to communicate clearly during his appointments, address and empathise with my son's concerns, and encourage him to allow the treatment to be completed has been fantastic. Would very highly recommend, especially for any parents who have young children who are anxious of visiting dentists.

We highly recommend Myodental, especially Dr Marshall’s expertise in holistic orthodontics. Our daughter, 11 at the time, had top and bottom overcrowding as well as an impacted canine. We were advised previously to remove 4 healthy teeth before braces, which we were quite reluctant to proceed with. Luckily, we found Dr Marshall who meticulously put together the best treatment plan for our daughter, including a Schwartz palatal expander (and without any unnecessary teeth extractions). 24 months later - a wide, beautiful, perfect smile. We are extremely happy with the results! Many thanks to the whole team!

I was more than happy to travel all the way from Dorset for every appointment for my daughter. When you start doing research into the dental industry, it soon becomes apparent that not all professionals are created equal! I wanted to bring my daughter here because Michael is one of the few who truly takes in the bigger, holistic picture and not just 'straightening' teeth. He understands the importance of airway, bone formation, and over-all health. It was no surprise to me that MyoDental even have people travelling from abroad for Michael's services. Absolute professionalism and 5-star service from the team the whole way. My daughter loved going to her appointments!

Delighted - four months on I have straight and tastefully whiter teeth. The process was surprisingly straightforward once you had got used to having the retainers in your mouth. You can see progress almost immediately. And the end result was impressive given that teeth start to meander when you get older. Michael is a delight to work with and his team patient. Their pricing is also transparent so there were no hidden charges which it always appreciated. Many thanks. P.s. my bite in back in the right place for the first time since I was a teenager.

I had a hygiene appt today with Nicola and she was fantastic. I haven't had teeth so clean, with stains gently removed from coffee etc., in a long time. She was helpful and knowledgeable and took the time and care required to get my teeth in great shape, without causing me discomfort. I rarely think to leave reviews but I was so impressed with Nicola that I was motivated to take the time to do so.

I had very bad overcrowding of my teeth, and I visited several clinics across London where everyone wanted to remove two teeth from the bottom to straighten them, which didn’t feel right to me. When I found Dr. Marshal, he was the only one who suggested expanding the jaw using ALF, with no need to remove any teeth. The whole treatment was excellent. Dr. Marshal was always kind and explained everything in detail. I felt very comfortable throughout all my appointments. The result is amazing - straight teeth and a beautiful smile. Thank you, I am very grateful for my smile! As a bonus, I also have a better jawline.

I popped into MyoDental just to make a general enquiry and not only did I come out with some useful advice, but a hygienist appointment made for me two hours later. Very happy with the appointment and was very appreciative to the staff who didn't mind my fussy baby being in tow! It was a very welcoming practice and I plan to return.

Dr Marshall was amazing fixing my son’s chipped tooth after 3 years and many refusals from others claiming he is too young to have it done. His first reaction was “what, so I can smile again?!” 🥹 Thank you, Dr Marshall for making this happen, your expertise and approachable made this experience a bliss.
